YoonA in talks to reprise Ishihara Satomi's role in Korean remake of 'Unnatural'

BY Susan-Han · May 9, 2026

Girls' Generation's YoonA has been offered the title role in the South Korean remake of the popular Japanese drama, 'Unnatural'.

The South Korean remake will center around a medical examiner named Lim Do Eun, who investigates the cause of a series of unnatural deaths through her persistence and positivity. YoonA was chosen as a title role candidate for her close resemblance to Lim Do Eun, who is like sunshine at a rather gloomy workplace.

Meanwhile, 'Unnatural' originally aired on TBS in Japan in 2018. It starred top Japanese actress Ishihara Satomi and swept 6 major awards at Japan's 'Drama Academy Awards'. Its main OST, "Lemon" by Yonezu Kenshi, also became a mega hit following the drama's success.

The South Korean remake will be produced by Park Yoo Young of 'Ms. Incognito'.
