ADOR, the agency representing NewJeans, has lowered the amount of its damages claim in an ongoing civil lawsuit involving Danielle, her family, and former CEO Min Hee Jin.
According to industry sources on June 4th, ADOR reduced its previously filed compensation claim from 43.1 billion KRW (about 31.4 million USD) to 33.09 billion KRW (about 24.1 million USD).
ADOR stated that the adjustment was made following the appointment of new legal representatives and a subsequent review of the case.
“A new legal team has been appointed, and the case has been re-examined and restructured,” the company said. “Accordingly, the claim amount has been partially adjusted. We will continue to supplement our arguments and evidence as the proceedings continue.”
The agency recently replaced its previous counsel from Kim & Chang with a new legal team from the law firm Leehan. The first hearing in the case is scheduled for June 11.
The lawsuit originates from ADOR’s filing in December last year after the termination of Danielle’s exclusive contract. ADOR alleges that Danielle, her mother, and Min Hee Jin are responsible for NewJeans’ attempted departure and delayed return to group activities.
Separately, the Seoul Central District Court approved ADOR’s request for property seizure in February against Danielle’s mother and Min Hee Jin, covering assets valued at up to 7 billion KRW (about 5.1 million USD).
Danielle and Min Hee Jin remain central figures in the ongoing legal dispute.
