Actress Kang Mina went on Jo Hyun Ah's YouTube show 'Jo Hyun Ah's Thursday Night' on June 23 and shared some behind-the-scenes stories from her Netflix drama 'Girigo.'
She revealed that landing the role wasn't easy. She met the director twice, and her first reading didn't go well. The director gave her a second shot, though, and she made it count.
Kang Mina also talked about how many viewers found her character "rude" — a reaction she seemed to take as a sign the performance worked.
One standout story involved filming club scenes. Having debuted at a young age, she'd never actually been to a club. To get past the awkwardness, she poured a little whiskey into a tumbler and drank it on set to help get into character. Jo Hyun Ah laughed, noting the staff around would hardly make it feel like a real club.
Still, Kang Mina said she pulled off the vibe of a "runaway delinquent" sneaking out late at night. She admitted the intense role left her feeling "a bit sharp" afterward, and she's still working on shaking off the character.
Up next, she'll star in the tvN drama 'Tomorrow's Work,' set for the second half of the year, playing an elite character whose smooth life takes an unexpected turn.
