Lee So Ra’s heartfelt piano performance moves Hong Jin Kyung to tears

Lee So Ra delivered a heartfelt moment of comfort to longtime friend Hong Jin Kyung, bringing her to tears during the latest episode of MBC’s Sora and Jinkyung.

The June 14 broadcast featured the final chapter of Lee So Ra and Hong Jin Kyung’s journey to Paris Fashion Week. After successfully completing their second runway show, the two met at a restaurant, where an unexpected piano performance created one of the most emotional moments of the series.

When Hong Jin Kyung asked Lee So Ra to play something on the piano, Lee So Ra responded by performing the beloved song “Don’t Worry.” Before beginning, she shared a heartfelt wish for her friend, saying she hoped Hong Jin Kyung’s future would be filled with peace and happiness.

As the music played, memories of Hong Jin Kyung’s difficult journey resurfaced. During the years the two friends were apart, Hong Jin Kyung experienced marriage, motherhood, a battle with cancer, and divorce. She has previously spoken about periods in her life when she struggled deeply and even questioned whether she could continue moving forward.

Overcome with emotion, Hong Jin Kyung quietly broke down in tears throughout the performance. The touching moment also moved Lee So Ra and studio guest Uhm Jung Hwa, who was seen crying while watching the scene unfold.

After finishing the song, Lee So Ra gently held Hong Jin Kyung’s hand and embraced her. Reflecting on the past, Hong Jin Kyung said that the music brought back memories of the many hardships they had endured and how those experiences had caused them to lose touch over the years.

Lee So Ra admitted that revisiting old wounds had never been easy, saying it often felt easier to keep painful memories buried. She explained that she simply wanted to comfort Hong Jin Kyung because she knew how much her friend had suffered. Offering words of encouragement, Lee So Ra reassured her that better days were ahead.

Watching the emotional exchange, Uhm Jung Hwa later shared that the moment resonated deeply with her as well. She said she understood the loneliness and struggles both women had experienced and felt comforted by their reunion and healing conversation.

Lee So Ra and Hong Jin Kyung were once part of a close-knit circle of celebrity friends that included the late Choi Jin Sil, along with several other well-known entertainers. After Choi Jin Sil’s passing in 2008, many members of the group naturally drifted apart. Through Sora and Jinkyung, Lee So Ra and Hong Jin Kyung reunited after nearly 15 years, rekindling a friendship that continues to touch viewers.
