Netflix’s new Korean comedy action film with ‘Extreme Job’ stars generates buzz ahead of release

BY K-Soul · June 4, 2026

An unlikely alliance is about to unfold. An ex-husband and a current husband join forces, and several actors from blockbuster “10 Million Movie” hits are coming together in one film.

The upcoming comedy action movie 'Husbands in Action' is set for a worldwide release on June 19 through Netflix. The film follows the unpredictable rescue mission of an ex-husband and current husband who reluctantly team up to save a wife kidnapped by a criminal organization.

The production team officially kicked off promotions on May 28 by unveiling eight character stills featuring Jin Seon Kyu, Gong Myung, Kim Ji Suk, and Yoon Kyung Ho. As soon as the images revealed the sharply contrasting personalities of the four characters, online reactions quickly poured in.

Reunion of ‘Extreme Job’ Million-Seller Stars

Actors Jin Sun Kyu and Gong Myoung, who previously starred together in the hit comedy film 'Extreme Job,' reunite in 'Husbands in Action' as narcotics detective Choong Sik and veterinarian Min Seok, respectively.

'Extreme Job' became a massive box-office success, attracting 15 million viewers thanks to performances by Ryu Seung Ryong, Jin Sun Kyu, Lee Dong Hwi, Lee Ha Nee, Gong Myung, and Shin Ha Kyun. Both Jin Sun Kyu and Gong Myung earned their status as “10 million actors” through the film’s success.

Additional cast members include Kim Ji Suk, Yoon Kyung Ho, Kang Han Na, and Lee Da Hee. Yoon Kyung Ho, who recently gained widespread attention for his role as Han Yoo Rim in 'The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call,' is also expected to add tension to the story.

Four Characters, Four Different Worlds

Hwang Choong Sik, played by Jin Sun Kyu, is a passionate narcotics detective who practically lives at the police station and happens to be Shi Nae’s ex-husband. After finally capturing the leader of a new drug cartel he had been investigating for years, he learns that Shi Nae has been kidnapped and immediately launches a rescue mission.

Lee Min Seok, portrayed by Gong Myung, is Shi Nae’s current husband and a veterinarian who throws himself into the dangerous operation alongside Choong Sik with the sole goal of saving his wife.

In the newly released stills, Choong Sik is seen inside a warehouse preparing to arrest criminals while holding handcuffs. His sly smile in a back alley hints at a more human and humorous side beneath his tough exterior. Meanwhile, Min Seok appears warmly interacting with volunteers during a dog rescue mission, contrasted by scenes of him nervously surveying a tense situation alone inside a dark vehicle.

Ma Do Joon, played by Kim Ji Suk, is the leader of a new drug organization that dominates the narcotics world using cutting-edge technology. Kim Yong Kang, played by Yoon Kyung Ho, leads another organization fighting to reclaim territory overtaken by Do Joon.

A still of Do Joon standing confidently in the middle of a logistics warehouse wearing a purple suit leaves a strong impression, while Yong Kang’s heavy charisma as he commands his subordinates in the rain also captures attention.

Shi Nae, played by Kang Han Na, is Choong Sik’s ex-wife and Min Seok’s current wife, who refuses to back down even after being kidnapped by the drug organization. Hye Ran, portrayed by Lee Da Hee, is Do Joon’s wife and a key figure in the drug business. Actress Jeon So Min is also part of the cast lineup.

Director Park Gyu Tae Promises Two Conflicting Worlds

Director Park Gyu Tae explained, “'Husbands in Action' builds another layer of story through the conflict and reconciliation between generations by adding the rivalry between old-school and new-generation drug bosses to the setup of an ex-husband and current husband working together.

The project has already attracted attention as the latest work from Park Gyu Tae, who previously delivered laughs with the film '6/45.'

Production is being handled by TPS Company, known for films including '6/45,' 'Hard Hit,' 'Seo Bok,' and 'Fabricated City.'

The director also shared behind-the-scenes details, saying, “The actors showed perfect chemistry on set and constantly created fun banter together. It was a happy filming environment filled with ideas and nonstop laughter as everyone comfortably immersed themselves in their characters.”

“Already Looks Hilarious” — Trailer Reactions Explode Online

The teaser poster, featuring Jin Sun Kyu and Gong Myung standing back-to-back with determined expressions, has already sparked curiosity among viewers.

After the trailer was released, online reactions flooded in with comments such as, “I’m already excited,” “It feels like 'Extreme Job',” and “The trailer alone had me laughing.”

Another anticipated highlight is Kim Ji Suk’s character Do Joon, who may appear carefree and slick on the outside but reveals a surprising side when it comes to protecting the woman he loves. Yong Kang’s comeback story after being released from prison following a 10-year sentence is also expected to bring a fresh layer of entertainment.

With its chaotic chemistry and comedic banter between Jin Sun Kyu, Gong Myoung, Kim Ji Suk, and Yoon Kyung Ho, the comedy action film 'Husbands in Action' premieres exclusively on Netflix on Friday, June 19.
