RESCENE’s Woni returns to Geoje and proudly embraces her hometown roots

RESCENE member Woni shared her deep affection for her hometown of Geoje in the latest episode of her YouTube series.

Released on June 5 KST, the second installment of “Gyaru and Geoje” on Woni’s channel featured the singer returning to her hometown alongside fellow RESCENE member Minami, who appeared in a playful gyaru-inspired makeover.

During the trip, Woni revisited her former school and recalled her days commuting by bus. Planning a surprise appearance around dismissal time, she admitted feeling nervous and wondered whether students would recognize her.

Her concerns quickly disappeared as students immediately recognized both idols upon seeing them outside the school gates. Woni warmly posed for photos with her juniors, earning praise for her friendly and thoughtful fan service.

The pair later explored popular spots around Geoje, including an ocean-view café, an arcade, and a karaoke venue. Citizens frequently recognized the two singers throughout the day, leaving Woni visibly touched by the warm reception.

Reflecting on her hometown, Woni shared, “When I was younger, I felt like Geoje was too rural and sometimes thought people looked down on it. But after living in Seoul, I realized how wonderful a place I grew up in.”

When asked whether she would choose to be born in Geoje again if given the chance, Woni answered without hesitation, “After today, my mind is completely made up. I would absolutely choose Geoje again.”

She concluded by referencing philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche’s famous phrase “Amor Fati,” meaning “love your fate,” adding that she hopes to embrace her destiny and continue loving the life she lives today.
