A growing divide has emerged within the fandom of SEVENTEEN member Dino over his upcoming solo project centered on the character Picheolin.
The controversy escalated after some fans sent funeral wreaths to protest the project, while others responded by installing congratulatory wreaths in support of Dino’s first solo release.
Fans opposing the Picheolin concept argue that their protest is directed at the agency rather than Dino himself. They have repeatedly emphasized that the wreaths are intended as a message to management regarding the direction of his solo activities, claiming they want to see Dino promoted under his own identity rather than through a comedy alter ego.

Supporters, however, argue that regardless of the intention, the public perception is very different.
One fan who visited the site shared a lengthy statement expressing frustration after seeing the rows of funeral wreaths in person.
“I was so angry I nearly cried,” the fan wrote. “Ordinary passersby, fans from other fandoms, and staff members don’t know the full story or the discussions behind this situation. What they see is only one thing: funeral wreaths sent to SEVENTEEN’s Dino, Lee Chan.”
The fan argued that even if the protest is aimed at the company, the visual impact ultimately falls on Dino himself and risks creating a negative impression of the artist among those unfamiliar with the details of the controversy.
According to supporters, 17 congratulatory wreaths were installed at the location to ensure that visitors would also see messages celebrating Dino’s solo debut.
“We didn’t want people to only see funeral wreaths,” the fan explained. “We wanted to show that there are also many people sincerely supporting and congratulating Dino on his first solo project.”
The debate has since spread across social media, where opinions remain sharply divided. Critics of the project continue to insist that their actions are a protest against the company’s creative decisions and not against Dino personally. Meanwhile, supporters argue that the protest itself is overshadowing the artist and unintentionally damaging his public image.
The disagreement comes as Dino prepares to debut as Picheolin, a fictional entertainment executive turned singer featured in an ongoing mock documentary series. While some fans view the project as a creative challenge and a new side of Dino’s artistry, others remain unconvinced by the concept.
As both sides continue to defend their positions, the discussion surrounding Dino’s solo debut has become one of the most hotly debated topics within the SEVENTEEN fandom, highlighting a rare public split between fans over how best to support the artist’s future.
