Seventeen's Hoshi is receiving praise for marking his 30th birthday with meaningful contributions to both fans and society while serving in the military.
On June 15, Pledis Entertainment announced that Hoshi will release a new solo song titled "Snapback." Known as one of K-pop's leading "producing idols," Hoshi participated in both the writing and composition of the track. The song was reportedly recorded before his military enlistment last September.
Alongside the music release, Hoshi's charitable efforts have also come into the spotlight. On the same day, the Community Chest of Korea revealed that a 100 million KRW (approximately $73,000 USD) donation made by Hoshi through the Gyeonggi Northern Community Chest of Korea helped complete a classroom construction project at a public school in Zambia.
According to the organization, Hoshi's donation allowed the school to expand from two classrooms to five classrooms. The funds also supported the construction of new restroom facilities and improvements to aging electrical infrastructure.
Hoshi is currently fulfilling his mandatory military service as a member of the Taekwondo Demonstration Team under the Army Band and Honor Guard Battalion. The unit was established earlier this year as the military's first permanent organization dedicated to Taekwondo demonstrations. Hoshi holds a fourth-degree black belt in Taekwondo.
Meanwhile, Seventeen will hold a stadium fan meeting at Incheon Asiad Main Stadium on June 20 and 21.
