Super Junior's Leeteuk and Shindong, Dawn, WEi's Kim Yohan, and NCT's Johnny and Jisung are set to embark on an exciting survival travel adventure in ENA's new variety show, 'The Prince and the Pauper,' premiering on July 27 at 11:15 PM KST.
The program, directed by Lee Tae Kyung (known for 'Amazing Saturday' and 'Hyemileeyechaeppa'), will take the six idols across Egypt, visiting iconic locations like Cairo, Luxor, and Hurghada. Over six nights and seven days, the cast will compete in missions to determine who enjoys luxurious "prince" benefits and who endures a challenging "pauper" journey.
The production team, TEO, highlighted the generational blend of the cast as a key viewing point. Leeteuk and Shindong, with 21 years in K-pop, will lead the show, guiding their junior idols.
According to reports on June 23, Lee Tae Kyung PD expressed his desire to showcase the idols' hidden charms beyond their glamorous stage personas. He described Leeteuk as having a childlike innocence, Shindong as intelligent and a leader, Dawn as relaxed and cheerful, and Johnny as having positive energy and playfulness. Kim Yohan is noted for his unexpected clumsiness and broad-mindedness, while Jisung is praised for his competitive spirit and sincere engagement.
The production team specifically mentioned Jisung, Johnny, and Kim Yohan for their unexpected active roles during filming. Jisung, initially shy, reportedly became a pivotal character with his genuine enthusiasm. Johnny and Kim Yohan impressed staff with their wit and comedic timing, making them highly recommended by the PD.
'The Prince and the Pauper' will also be available globally through Disney+, allowing international K-pop fans to follow the idols' unique journey.
