Busan residents are enjoying a snowy Christmas Eve for the first time in 24 years.
According to the Busan Meteorological Administration, there was a recorded snowfall of 1.2 cm (~0.5 inches). This was the first time it snowed in Busan on Christmas Eve since 1999.
With the morning snowfall, the city of Busan has issued warnings regarding slippery roads and potential accidents due to icy streets, advising residents to be cautious to ensure the safety of pedestrians and fellow drivers.
Meanwhile, snow fell in most of the country early on Christmas Eve morning as South Korea continues to endure a record-breaking cold wave. On December 23 KST, a heavy snow advisory was issued for Jeju Island, where around 8 cm. of significant snowfall was expected in its more mountainous areas. Central and southwestern cities reached up to 5 cm. of snow, while Seoul reached anywhere from 1-3 cm. of snow.
