SEVENTEEN’s V8 (THE 8 and VERNON) drops film teaser ahead of unit debut

BY Sofia-Sayson · June 9, 2026

SEVENTEEN’s new sub-unit, V8 (comprising THE 8 and VERNON) gears up for their upcoming debut with their self-titled mini-album.

On June 9, the duo unveiled a film teaser, revealing a sneak peek at their new project.

Through raw, rough-edged visuals and pulsating beat, the film captures a free-spirited energy of youth with a striking mise-en-scène, reminiscent of a road movie. The new soundscape teased in the video has fueled anticipation among global listeners, with its hyperpop elements and dreamy vocals hinting at the duo’s authentic sonic palette.

V8’ delves deep into the poignant theme of "wasted youth," capturing the raw moments of wandering and confusion experienced through time, along with the resilience and growth found within those struggles. Rather than defining the youth spent as mere lost time, the album sublimates the unstable and fragile nature of youth into an explosive sense of freedom, channeling that energy into a driving force to continuously forge ahead.

At the heart of the album’s distinctive sound is V8’s creative vision and hands-on involvement, bolstered by a powerhouse lineup of producers. For this mini-album, THE 8 and VERNON worked with Pharrell Williams, BUMZU, Mechatok, Dylan Brady, KIRARA, and DPR ARCTIC and DPR CREAM, among others.

Following the release of their first mini-album, V8 will connect with fans through their own concert series. The unit will kick off their ‘V8’ live show in South Korea on July 11 and12, followed by a three-night show in Hong Kong from July 17–19.
