Actors Who Began Their Careers as Singers

In the K-drama world, numerous talent has been recognized and discovered throughout the years, and with the platforms for Korean dramas expanding through streaming sites and web drama platforms, there is more room for actors to shine their light! 

However, some of the Korean actors and actresses we see on television didn't start out in the acting industry. In fact, there are a plethora of Korean actors and actresses who actually began their careers as singers! And no - we're not talking about our all-rounded idol stars (such as Cha Eun Woo & Rowoon) who kill it in both the music side and acting side. We're talking about people who have completely transitioned into an acting career.

Today, we'll be taking a look at some of these stars who began their career as a singer and later transitioned into full-time actors/actresses. Let us know if you were surprised to see some of these people on the list - let's take a look below!

Seo Hyun Jin

Seo Hyun Jin actually began her career in SM Entertainment as a girl group member of MILK! Check out some of her performances below!

Oh Yeon Seo

The nation's favorite actress actually began in a girl group called L.U.V (the first era Orange Caramel) and later transitioned into an actress.

Yoon Kye Sang

We see Yoon Kye Sang as the charismatic actor now, but he was actually a part of g.o.d before he departed the group in 2004! 

Jung Ryeo Won

Would you be surprised to know that Ryeo Won was part of a girl group called Chakra when she first debuted? And yes -- she was also the visual member back then as well.

Son Ho Joon

Son Ho Joon was also a singer before he shifted gears into an actor. He was part of a group called TACHYON back in 2007!

Joo Won

Joo Won was a member of FREEZE before he transitioned into an actor and he has been killing it in the acting world ever since!

Kim Ji Seok

Kim Ji Seok was part of a group called LEO in the early 2000s. Crazy to believe that many people only remember him as an actor! 

Yoojin (Eugene)

If IU and Suzy exist today as the nation's fairy and nation's little sister, Yoojin was the original nation's fairy when she was absolutely killing it in S.E.S, part of SM Entertainment. Now, she is a high-class actress, and we were able to see plenty of that throughout the Penthouse series!

Hwang Jung Eum

This attractive actress took part in a girl group called "Sugar" before departing the group in 2004 to focus on solo activities, and she was able to successfully transition into a famous actress since!

Chae Jung An

If you know Lee Jung Hyun, Chae Jung An was also a techno queen when she first debuted in 2000 as a solo singer. She then transitioned into an actress a few years into her debut!
