Hwang Jung Eum reflects on marriage, reconciliation, and divorce in candid new video

Actress Hwang Jung Eum personally addressed misconceptions surrounding her past reconciliation with her ex-husband.

In a video released on June 10 through her YouTube channel, Hwang Jung Eum reviewed a life timeline generated by ChatGPT and candidly reflected on key moments in her personal and professional journey, including her marriage and reconciliation with her former spouse.

During the video, she asked ChatGPT to summarize her life story from her 2002 debut as a member of the girl group Sugar to the present day and shared her thoughts while reviewing the results.

Looking back on her debut days, Hwang said, “It was a time when everything felt scary.” She added, “It's still the same now. Before releasing my YouTube channel, I was so nervous and worried. It felt like I was debuting all over again.”

She also expressed affection for the sitcom 'High Kick Through the Roof,' saying it was the project that helped shape her career and made her who she is today.

Hwang especially took the opportunity to clarify misunderstandings about her reconciliation with her ex-husband in 2021.

“Many people think we got back together because I became pregnant with our second child, but that's not true,” she explained. “We decided to reconcile and live together again because of our first son, Wang Sik. After making that decision, we went on a family trip.”

She continued, “When we traveled to Hawaii, we intentionally planned for our second child. We didn't reconcile because of the second baby. We had our second child after reconciling and making that decision together.”

Hwang further emphasized that there was no hidden incident between those events, adding, “People think something must have happened in the middle, but there wasn't.”

Meanwhile, Hwang Jung Eum married former professional golfer-turned-businessman Lee Young Don in 2016, and the couple welcomed two sons. After reconciling and separating again, she filed for a second divorce in 2024 and finalized the divorce proceedings in 2025.
