It's been brought to light that IVE member Ahn Yu Jin had difficulty recovering on stage during the '2023 Ulsan Summer Festival' after being hit with smoke left by fireworks which went off on stage.
Previously, IVE performed during the '2023 Ulsan Summer Festival', which took place on August 7 and aired on MBC a week later on August 12.
During the highlight of IVE's "I Am" performance on this day, bright fireworks were shot from directly in front of the stage for a dazzling effect. Ahn Yu Jin, who happened to be close to the front of the stage while singing, seemed to have been hit with the residual smoke, as she closed her eyes and frowned in discomfort.
Ahn Yu Jin proceeded to carry on for a short while with her eyes closed, then opened her eyes wide and acted as if nothing were wrong once it was her turn to sing again.
While onlookers were greatly impressed with Ahn Yu Jin's professionalism, some also felt that the incident could have been prevented with better safety measures.
Furthermore, the August 12 broadcast of MBC's 'Show! Music Core', which aired the '2023 Ulsan Summer Festival', fueled the anger of onlookers for completely editing out this incident, instead opting to air a wide shot of the fireworks from afar to create a brilliant effect, which was only possible at the expense of the artists' safety.
Some fans commented, "What if Yujin were seriously hurt", "She got smoke in her eyes TT Our Yujinnie", "What use are those fireworks? The artists could really get hurt!", "Yujin was uncomfortable because of the smoke!", "All of the fancams from the festival show Yujin struggling after the fireworks went off, but MBC totally edited it out and acted like the fireworks were a huge success", and more.
