Jisoo of BLACKPINK has addressed a recent family-related controversy through her agency, firmly distancing herself from the issue.
On April 20, BLISSOO released an official statement via its legal representative, Kim & Chang, clarifying that the matter circulating online has no connection to the artist or the agency.
The controversy began after reports emerged that a man in his 30s, identified as A, had been arrested on charges of sexually harassing a female internet broadcaster. As speculation spread online suggesting that the individual was Jisoo’s older brother, the agency moved to respond directly.
In its statement, the legal team explained that Jisoo has lived independently for many years since her trainee days and has had no involvement in or knowledge of the individual’s personal life. The agency also denied claims that her family was involved in the management or operation of BLISSOO.
“While the artist may have received limited advice from family members during the early stages of establishing the company, no family member has ever received compensation or participated in decision-making,” the statement read. It further emphasized that the company has been operated independently without any familial involvement.
The agency also made clear that neither Jisoo nor BLISSOO has provided any financial or legal support to the individual in question, nor do they plan to do so in the future. It strongly denied rumors suggesting that the individual co-founded the company or holds any executive position.
Additionally, the agency expressed serious concern over the spread of unverified claims and false information linking the artist to the incident, calling such actions a violation of her rights and reputation.
The legal representative warned that strict civil and criminal action will be taken against those who create or distribute malicious content, including defamation, misuse of the artist’s name or image, and the publication of speculative reports without fact-checking.
The statement concluded with a firm stance that there will be no leniency or settlements for individuals who repeatedly or intentionally spread false information.
