On April 20, BIGHIT MUSIC’s five-member boy group, CORTIS (Martin, James, Juhoon, Seonghyeon, and Keonho), made their long-awaited return with the single "REDRED."
This track serves as the pre-release lead single for their upcoming mini-album, 'GREENGREEN.' The project is set to feature five additional songs: "TNT," "ACAI," "YOUNGCREATORCREW," "Wassup," and "Blue Lips."
"Fingers crossed, I really believe that this lead single is going to do great and be a success," said Martin, noting the intense effort poured into the track's creation. He describes the song as having a distinct "heat," adding, "It feels like it is always building and boiling; I never get tired of it."
Notably, all five members were involved in the song’s production. James explained that during the creative process, they focused on stripping away anything that didn't feel authentic to their identity to find their true sound.
This approach allowed the group to establish a clearer direction for "REDRED," showcasing a new side of themselves compared to their previous work. As Seonghyeon puts it, "It reflects our taste and standards as well."
'GREENGREEN' arrives eight months after their debut mini-album, 'COLOR OUTSIDE THE LINES,' which featured the hit singles "GO!" and "FaSHioN." Juhoon noted, "While our debut album was about focusing on this sound that will serve as our first impression, this time, we tried to add elements that will be fun on stage."
2025 was the group's year, achieving milestones including an October appearance at Major League Soccer in Los Angeles as LAFC’s 'Honorary Falconer.' "Going through all of that really helped us figure out our own taste and direction more clearly," Keonho expressed, with Juhoon adding that from these experiences, they have learned to connecting more with audiences.
Regarding the songwriting sessions for "REDRED," Martin confessed they felt "driven to meet a high level of quality" while collaborating with renowned producers like Hiss noise, Supreme Boi, and "hitman" bang.
While Martin admitted to feeling the pressure, he emphasized that they ultimately just wanted to deliver their best. Juhoon added, "As we continued developing 'REDRED,' the song really came to life. At some point, we all felt confident that it had what it takes to be the lead single."
