BY K-Soul · June 2, 2026

Take One Studio has unveiled its upcoming slate of large-scale projects for the second half of the year.

On June 2, the studio revealed its next lineup of productions, with plans to expand globally targeted intellectual properties into a variety of formats.

The drama lineup includes ‘Whale Star: The Gyeongseong Mermaid,’ ‘Summer Girl Haboi,’ and ‘CELL,’ all based on popular webtoons from Naver Webtoon and Daum Webtoon.

‘Whale Star: Gyeongseong Mermaid’ will star Moon Ga Young, Choi Woo Shik, and Heo Nam Jun. The series will be co-directed by Hur Jin Ho, known for the film 'One Fine Spring Day,' and Yoo Beom Sang, known for the drama 'Study Group.' The drama is scheduled to air on tvN next year.

‘Summer Girl Haboi’ is described as a comic fantasy romance. The production aims to complete casting in the second half of this year before beginning filming. Meanwhile, ‘CELL,’ a supernatural action series, is currently in the casting stage.

The studio is also preparing several large-scale seasonal dramas, including ‘King of Hawaii,’ the BBC-based genre series ‘Unforgotten,’ and the romantic comedy ‘Slave Preference Theory.’

In particular, ‘King of Hawaii’ will be written by Kim Bo Tong and directed by Lee Won Suk. Set in Hawaii during the late 1980s, the drama follows the journey of a second-generation Korean immigrant who rises to become a kingpin in the criminal underworld.

The studio also unveiled a strong lineup of short-form dramas to be released through ‘Kitz,’ featuring collaborations between K-pop artists and veteran production staff. Following their short-form debut releases, the projects will later expand into films and mid-form series.

‘Love WiFi – Goong,’ based on the webtoon of the same name, will star Younghoon, Iru, and Kim Dong Jun. Director Jang Tae Yoo, known for 'Bon Appétit, Your Majesty,' will participate as the project creator.

Meanwhile, ‘Grim Reaper Life Extension Project’ will star Lee Min Ki and Hyungwon of MONSTA X. The project is drawing attention with Lee Gye Byeok, director of the film 'Luck-Key,' attached to helm the production.
