A past anecdote involving BLACKPINK's Jisoo and her older brother has resurfaced online amid recent controversy and public discussion surrounding allegations related to her family. The renewed attention has sparked widespread reactions across social media and online communities.
On April 20, a video from 2018 in which Jisoo previously shared a childhood story began circulating again on online platforms. In the clip, Jisoo points to a scar above her eyebrow and explains that it was caused by an incident involving her brother.
According to her recollection, when she was around five years old, her brother frightened her by telling her that “if you get exposed to disinfectant truck fumes, you will die” and described it as something like “a devil’s thing.” He then urged her to climb to the highest part of a playground structure to escape, repeatedly telling her to run while reassuring her, “Don’t worry, I’m your older brother.”
In the process of rushing upward, Jisoo reportedly hit her head on a railing and suffered an injury that caused significant bleeding. She recalled that blood was coming from her head and body, and that she called out to her brother, saying she was bleeding. However, she said he responded by telling her to keep running and dismissed the situation at the time.
Jisoo also described the reactions of people she encountered while returning home, noting that passersby were shocked by her condition. She later told her brother that she seemed seriously injured, but he reassured her that “it could have been worse.” Upon returning home, her mother and grandmother reportedly tended to her injuries, washing her and applying bandages without taking her to a hospital.
As the video regained attention, online users expressed mixed reactions, with some raising concerns about the incident and questioning the family environment described in the story. Comments included worries that she did not receive hospital treatment and reflections on the unusual nature of the situation.
Meanwhile, Jisoo released a statement on April 20 through her legal representatives, clarifying that the issues currently circulating online are unrelated to her or her agency. Her legal team stated that she has lived apart from her family since her trainee years and that no family members have been involved in financial compensation or decision-making within her agency establishment.
Her agency, BLISSOO, also emphasized that the claims being spread are not connected to Jisoo or the company, and announced that it would take strong legal action against the spread of false information.
