K-netizens react to Jisoo's statement on brother's domestic abuse allegations

BY K-Soul · April 20, 2026

Last week, the Korean entertainment industry was faced with another shocking controversy involving a global K-pop idol's family member.

Domestic abuse allegations have been raised against Kim Jung Hoon, CEO of BIOMOM, based on a January 2026 police report filed by an informant. The informant claims they became aware of the alleged abuse in August 2025 after the victim—identified as Kim’s current wife—asked for help and showed visible injuries. The report describes repeated physical and verbal abuse, coercive control, and threats, along with ongoing surveillance and restrictions on the victim’s movements.

Additional allegations include forced acts, intimidation against reporting to authorities, and similar claims from a former spouse. The informant also alleges that the abuse escalated over time, with attempts to conceal visible injuries.

Separately, Kim Jung Hoon has also been accused in an unrelated case of illegal filming and distribution of sexual content, which he has denied. Kim Jung Hoon is known as the older brother of BLACKPINK member Jisoo and is affiliated with BIOMOM, the parent company of her label BLISSOO.

Following the controversy, Jisoo quickly denied any association in an official statement.

Jisoo's label stated through a legal representative, clarifying the matter circulating online. BLISSOO explained that Jisoo has lived independently for many years since her trainee days and has had no involvement in or knowledge of the individual’s personal life. The agency also denied claims that her family was involved in the management or operation of BLISSOO.

Following the spread of the allegations, Korean netizens gathered across online communities and social media platforms to share their reactions. Many reacted in shock but also showed support for Jisoo.

They commented:

"Looks like she's cutting ties."
"She drew the line with him."
"I thought they worked together at the agency or something…? Was that not true? Then why were people saying that?"
"If she cut ties, that’s enough. Good for her. Guys who cause trouble at that age don’t change. Stay strong."
"Did she draw a line? Good. Family that blocks your future isn’t really family."
"Did she cut him off? Must be… sigh. Having someone like that in the family is such a headache."
"Why are people even hating on Jisoo? The ones obsessed with attacking her seem to care the least about the actual victim."
"Isn’t she saying she’s unrelated? And will continue to be? Then that should be enough."
"What more do people want? She already cut ties with him."
"People said cutting ties would make it okay, and attacked her for not doing it—now she did, so why are they still attacking her? Just admit you want to hate on Jisoo, not that you care about the victim."
"How much would you even know about a brother who’s already moved out lol People still hating just want to hate, honestly."
"Jisoo, stay strong. The perpetrator should be punished accordingly."
"It seems pretty common for celebrities to be held back by their families. Jang Yoon Jung and Kim Hye Soo too."
"Looks like she’s going no-contact. That’s a relief."
"But isn’t this basically the best response possible…? It reads like she cut ties. How can you manage every risk from a male sibling? I have one too and I have no idea what he does outside."
"So did she cut ties even though they’re family?"

"Honestly, younger sisters of violent men are often victims themselves growing up, so I never understood why people attack the sister for what the brother did."
