MAMAMOO’s Hwa Sa has shared her honest reaction to receiving unexpected praise from NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang.
On the June 19 KST broadcast of KBS2’s 'The Seasons', MAMAMOO appeared as a full group for the first time in three years and eight months, performing their debut song “Mr. Ambiguous.”
Following the performance, host Sung Si Kyung brought up one of the hottest recent topics surrounding Hwa Sa — Jensen Huang’s public admiration for her music.
Hwasa admitted that she was initially shocked by the news.
“At first, I thought it was AI,” she said with a laugh. “When I first heard about it, I felt honored, but it didn’t feel real.”
Sung Si Kyung jokingly replied, “It’s not really an honor. He’s just a businessman who likes your music,” before adding, “Though he happens to be incredibly rich,” drawing laughter from the audience.
Hwasa went on to express her gratitude, saying, “As time goes by, I realize he genuinely gave me a shoutout. Every night before I sleep, I feel thankful.”
“I absolutely love Hwasa’s music,” Huang said. “She is incredibly charming. I like ‘Good Goodbye,’ and I also like her new album, ‘So Cute.’”
His detailed knowledge of her discography surprised both viewers and host Yoo Jae Suk, who joked, “How do you even know her new song? Hwasa’s ‘So Cute’ is going to get even bigger now.”
Huang continued his praise, describing Hwasa as an artist with “excellent vocal ability” and calling her “an outstanding dancer” as well.
The unexpected endorsement from one of the world’s most influential technology leaders has since become a hot topic among fans, with Hwasa’s heartfelt response drawing even more attention.
