BLACKPINK’s Jisoo reportedly cut ties with brother in May 2025 following assault allegations and arrest case

BY Demian09 · April 23, 2026

BLACKPINK's Jisoo officially distanced herself from her older brother, Kim Jung Hoon, following his recent arrest on sexual assault related charges and multiple allegations, with reports indicating the family severed ties as early as May 2025.

According to a timeline shared on April 22 by YouTuber Lee Jin Ho, the separation occurred after an anonymous post surfaced on the workplace community app Blind in May 2025.

The post accused Kim Jung Hoon of secretly filming a sexual encounter without consent and allegedly possessing illicit recordings of other women. Lee Jin Ho stated that following the incident, trust within Jisoo’s family toward Kim completely collapsed, resulting in a full cut-off of contact.

At the time, Kim had reportedly been assisting Jisoo with business related matters. However, after the allegations surfaced, he allegedly changed his phone number without notice and withdrew from direct contact, communicating only through voice calls. Lee suggested this made it unlikely that Jisoo was aware of his later legal issues.

Speculation also emerged regarding Kim Jung Hoon’s credit in the drama 'Boyfriend on Demand,' which premiered in March. Lee clarified that filming took place between October 2024 and May 2025, before the family severed ties, and that his name appeared based on production documentation from that period.

Lee further alleged that when Jisoo noticed her brother’s credit on March 6, she immediately requested its removal. Although the correction reportedly cost over 10 million KRW (approximately 7,000 USD), she personally paid the expense to have it deleted.

On April 20, Jisoo’s agency BLISSOO issued an official statement through legal representatives Kim & Chang, emphasizing that all allegations involving Kim are entirely unrelated to Jisoo and the company.

The agency clarified that family members only provided limited assistance during the company’s early establishment and did not participate in management or decision making. It also stated that no family member has received compensation from BLISSOO. The statement further noted that Jisoo has lived independently since her trainee years and is not involved in or aware of private matters concerning her family members.

The controversy escalated on April 15 when Kim Jung Hoon was arrested by Seoul Gangnam Police Station on charges of forcibly molesting a female internet broadcaster. Reports stated he purchased a date ticket worth approximately 3 million KRW (about 2,200 USD), before meeting the victim, after which the alleged incident occurred at his residence. The Seoul Central District Prosecutors Office later rejected the arrest warrant due to insufficient evidence.

Following the escalation, Jisoo canceled a scheduled airport appearance on April 22 and departed for Cannes, France.
